Follow the Lightning is a time-travel love story filled with action, adventure, love, and romance. Jay Dalton is a down on his luck, half-breed Lakota Indian living in present day Texas. After a failed attempt to rob a bank in a small Texas town, he's chased by the law and shot at while he flees on horseback. As the cops continue to close in on him, Jay is wounded and his horse is shot from under him. Falling from the horse and landing in scrub brush in a ravine, he is partially hidden, but unable to flee as he fights to remain conscious. In a desperate plea to the Great Spirit, he suddenly sees the legendary Ghost/Spirit Horse told of by his People. The magical white stallion, Relampago, comes to Jay, and as the horse and Dalton are fleeing from danger, he's wounded again.When Jay awakens, he's on a ranch in Dakota Territory in 1873. Jenna McLaughlin is a single young woman, alone on her ranch. Although she's shocked to find a wounded man on a white horse in her front yard, she can't turn him away and decides to nurse him back to health. Jenna has been through a lot of hardship, her mother left and went back East when she was younger, afterward her father dies, and her younger brother is missing. She has no one to help her repair and run the ranch. As the plot thickens, and Jay sticks around to help her repair the ranch, he and Jenna begin to fall in love, and the ranch is suddenly attacked by Crow Indians.
The story and characters are well developed, and it's a definite page turner. I found it difficult to put down my Kindle. I loved how everything turned out toward the end, and really enjoyed the continuation of the story afterward, giving the story a well rounded, satisfying ending. It's an excellent story and I enjoyed it very much. It's well worth the read. Madeline Baker is my favorite author. I've read all her books and I highly recommended reading Follow the Lightning.

This was a truly good book and I enjoyed it so much. I love the books with RELAMPAGO in them...all of different!!! I will reread this more than once I am sure.

I've read Madeline's other Native Romance books and I simply adore this time-travel story about a half-breed Lakota Indian, named Jay Dalton living in present day, chased by the law and flees the law by a white magical horse called Relampago, a legendary Ghost/Horse told by his people taking him back in time in 1873 on Jenna McLaughin ranch.
Amanda find the horse and Jay, he's been shot, she can't turn him away so she nurses him back to good health. Amanda has a lot of hardships and needs help on the ranch so Jay helps repair the ranch and Amanda falls in love with Jay but the Crow Indians attack the ranch and the story begins. Amanda wants forever but will Jay stay in the past or will Jay flee on Relampago to the present. This story has great action, sex, and adventure with love and romance. It's a great book to read. Madeline is a great storyteller and I recommend reading all her books about Native romance adventures.
